I marched across the floor, muttering to myself anxiously. There had to be a way I could get out of here without being noticed? Okay so Iâm not a big fan of sharp things, most especially if they are aimed at me. I went out onto the balcony and looked down, twenty-one floors is not that high, and even if I broke every bone on the way down, it wouldnât be nearly as painful, but at least I would heal unaided. Gerald watched me warily. I know Iâm supposed to be this hard to kill, brave, strong vampire with cool powers, not frightened of anything right? Wrong. Sighing softly, I wandered back inside, fidgeting and growing more anxious as time passed. Rushing to the bar I poured myself a shot of tequila to calm my nerves, then another one for good measure, by the time Natasha came out the other room I was well on my way to being totally wasted.
âWe managed to get everything out, thereâs not too much tissue damage, thank God, and sheâs resting now.â Natasha informed us, wiping her face.
âWould you like a drink?â I offered sloppily, pleased I didnât slur.
âThanks, that would be great.â she replied, accepting the glass from me. Sipping her drink she gazed at me, eyes narrowing sharply.
âDid it work?â She asked, grasping my shoulders and spinning me around.
âI think so; I hardly feel anything at all.â I slurred happily.
âOf course youâll bleed more.â she said, gently lifting the edge of my blouse.
âJust as long as I donât feel anything, works for me.â I shrugged, moving unsteadily away from her. There was a knock on the door, and Gerald rose to open the door.
âItâs nice to see you again.â I heard Gerald say. Nina sauntered into the room, an amused smile tugging the corners of her mouth.
âYouâre kidding me rightâ¦â I said staring at Nina in consternation.
âYour procedure will be a little more complicated, I needed more help.â Natasha said, walking to Nina and sliding her arms around Ninaâs shoulders. I so did not like that.
âCanât anything ever be simple?â I garbled, dropping sulkily onto the couch, folding my arms across my chest.
